It is well distributed in the Deccan plateau and South East Asia, predominately in Southern parts of India and Sri Lanka
Ashoka is a medium sized erect evergreen tree with deep green leaves growing in clusters
Leaves are alternate paripinnate, copper red coloured when young and turns green when mature.
Flowers are brightly orange colored
Bark is the most economically important part of Ashoka
