Pimpinella anisum is commonly known as Aniseed.
Aniseed is an annual plant growing to a height of 0.5m (1ft 8in) by 0.2 m (0ft 8in).
Aniseed is grown in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, West Asia, the Middle East, Mexico, Egypt, and Spain.
In India it is grown in Arunachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal
Aniseed is warm-season annual herb, it grows best in temperate and subtropical climate.
The optimum temperature for growth ranges between 12°C to 18°C.
Aniseed will grow satisfactorily in a soil with a pH range between 5.5 and 6.5.
It prefers poor, light and well-drained soil.
